Frequently asked questions
Starting therapy brings up plenty of practical questions. Here are the ones people ask most, and if yours isn't here, just reach out.
Do you offer telehealth counseling?
Yes. Secure video sessions are available to clients physically located in Kentucky and Indiana. In-person appointments are offered in West Point, Kentucky. Telehealth is a great fit for rural clients who'd otherwise face a long drive.
How much does counseling cost?
Care is offered on a self-pay basis with a sliding fee scale based on household income and financial need, so cost stays manageable. Please reach out for current rates — Terri will confirm your fee privately before your first session. See the Fees & Access page for how billing works.
Do you accept insurance?
Insurance options are growing and may include private/commercial plans, Medicare, and Medicaid. Because coverage varies, please reach out to confirm current options for your specific plan. If insurance isn't a fit, self-pay and sliding-scale rates keep care within reach.
Who do you work with?
Terri works with adults, adolescents, and children, as well as couples and families. She brings particular experience with foster and adoptive families, caregivers, and those navigating trauma, anxiety, depression, stress, life transitions, substance use recovery, and child-welfare (DCBS/CPS) stress.
What can I expect in the first session?
Your first session is an initial assessment: a relaxed conversation about what brings you in, a bit of your history, and what you'd like to work toward. There's no pressure to share more than you're ready to. Together you'll shape a plan and decide on next steps.
Is EMDR available?
Yes. Terri is trained in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) and offers EMDR-informed care as part of trauma treatment when it's a good fit for your goals.
Are my sessions confidential?
Yes. Sessions are confidential, and virtual visits are conducted over a private telehealth platform. The limits to confidentiality, such as concerns about safety, are explained clearly during your intake so you always know what to expect.
What are your hours, and what if I'm in crisis?
Sessions are by appointment only, with evening and weekend times available. This website and its forms are not monitored for emergencies. If you are in crisis, call or text 988 (Suicide & Crisis Lifeline) or call 911.
